BR blue Class 47/4 No.47 491 Horwich Enterprise leaves Oxford station with the 06.02 Derby-Brighton on July 2 1985. The former D1753 had been named at BREL Horwich Works on June 21 that year.

 Class 76s Nos.76 010 + 76 016 creep through Dinting with the 6M50 from Rotherwood on the last full day of Woodhead line operations, July 17 1981. The track and platform in the foreground was never repaired following the derailment there on March 10 of that fateful year.

 BR Derby-built Type 2 No. 25 219 has charge of a pick-up freight for Wigan at Southport on May 12 1980, with a gunpowder wagon marshalled next to the locomotive. Withdrawn in April 1983, the former D7569 was cut-up at Swindon by February 1987. Les Nixon

 Seeing double. Class 37/0 No.37 080, complete with Eastfield West Highland Terrier 'Scottie' dog cabside depot plaque, stabled in Edinburgh Waverley station on February 25 1993. The EE Type 3 was introduced as D6780 in November 1962 and was renumbered as 37 080 under TOPS in February 1974.
